Dear Keerti,
I'm sending the photographs of how we celebrated Sushmita's birthday in a small school where we had been working in Bhopal, along with the pictures that the children painted. It was a spontaneous spur of the moment effort so much like Sushmita. Veena, the children and everyone was so happy we plan to celebrate her birthday every year in some way.
I just returned from Jaipur yesterday - this was the first time I went there and came back without meeting Sushmita - and really missed her. The cup of tea that so many have remembered was such a characteristic with her whenever we went over and two years ago when she had come to Bhopal she stayed with us.
We discussed so many things that we could do together - but never got to follow up.
Read your post on the blog about her illness - since I never met her when she was down and only for brief periods - I didn't really realise the impact of her illness and the struggle she had with it. Last time I met her she said the doctor had said that she had been cured - its only after she was no more that I came to know that she had been keeping unwell for some time again.

So many memories of her are floating in my mind - will jot them down soon and send them for the blog.
