It has been rather sudden- this passing away of Sushmita.

 

We had been in touch with Sushmita off and on, on a more regular basis over the last five years. Around 2 years ago we invited Sushmita to conduct some workshops for a women's program in Samavesh. It was such a delight to see Sushmita take up this work with energy and enthusiasm. She had been feeling a lot better then, she informed us, and was getting back into more activities.

 

She conducted a ten day workshop at Bhopal, and it was such a pleasure to interact with the Sushmita of old, who handled the group of women trainers with such a light touch and humour. Later, when we went to Jaipur, we went over to meet her and stay with her for a day and she seemed rather well and in good spirits. Her sudden departure therefore becomes all the more painful, knowing that she was making such a brave and spirited come back, in keeping with her optimistic spirit.
